Could This Aqua-Wheelchair Lead to a Future Paralympic Sport?

The events at the Paralympics have started in earnest now but there are also displays of brilliant new technology as well. In this New Scientist video we see a protoype motorised underwater wheelchair created through collaboration between artist Sue Austin, engineers, and diving experts. This remarkable machine will allow wheelchair users to go scuba diving. It’s even possible to do some underwater acrobatics in the vehicle. Watch out for where the user flips her aqua-wheelchair right over. You have to wonder whether this kind of activity could grow into a new Paralympic sport in a few years time.
