I’m a cognitive scientist, writer, and photographer currently living in Fife, but originally from Hednesford in Staffordshire.
After a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Cognitive Science at Sheffield University I went on to complete an M.Sc. in the same subject at Birmingham University. In 2006 I received a Ph.D. in goal-directed behaviour from the Computer Science department at St Andrews University.
My writing includes both science fact and science fiction. The factual side looks at cognitive science, complexity, and futurism. In my fiction I explore futuristic worlds and Utopian possibilities through novels, plays, and sketches.
My photography is mostly aimed at capturing the beauty of nature and wildlife. Do check out the Facebook page dedicated to my photography. Many of my photos are available on merchandising websites including 500px, Fine Art America, RedBubble, and Zazzle.
In my spare time I play guitar and write songs and continue to dream of rock stardom. I’m a big sports fan too and keep myself fit by running regularly.
